Queensland Election – Pumicestone
Getting off the plane yesterday, we were greeted by the Pumicestone campaign team and driven 50km north of Brisbane to Bribie Island.
Arriving at our accommodation for the week we set up our base camp with corflutes and painted the apartment block blue.
That evening we were invited to the LNP Pumicestone candidate Simone Wilson’s house for a BBQ dinner. It was great to meet Simone and her family and discuss more about the electorate and campaign so far. Enjoying some of Queensland’s finest XXXX beer with Simone’s team and family was an absolute pleasure and we are both determined to deliver for the LNP this Saturday.
To say that we have a busy schedule is an understatement but also a testament to how hard Simone, the Pumicestone campaign team and the LNP have been working over the past several months. This dedication has only strengthened our resolve to support Simone’s campaign representing the WA Young Liberals.
This morning (and every morning) we will be up at 5:30am sign waving next to the bridge that connects Birdie Island to the mainland.
The seat of Pumicestone is a very marginal seat which has a swung between major parties over the past three elections so every effort counts in ensuring that the LNP are able to form majority in Queensland’s Legislative Assembly. With the 2016 electoral boundary change cutting off a significant piece of Labor territory within the seat the race is tighter than ever.
For the upcoming days we will be ensuring Labor’s dumped candidate Rick Williams doesn’t get the chance to be re-elected and continue his saga of political scandals. Only Simone Wilson and the LNP will ensure that neither Labor or their dumped candidate can wrestle their way into parliament.
The electorate will be running a ‘meet the candidate’ event at Bribie Island’s town-hall this Wednesday where we look forward to seeing Simone talk about her plans to deliver for Pumicestone and go head-to-head with opposing candidates.
Throughout the week we will be campaigning by boat, car, and foot as we meet the great people of Queensland and chat about how the LNP are building a better state and fixing Labor and the Greens big government mess.
Throughout the week we will be travelling back and forth from our base location in Bribie to Maleny which is over 150km North of Brisbane covering two electorates.
We would like to thank the Young Liberal Movement of Australia for affording us such a fantastic opportunity and look forward to spending our time with the people of Queensland.
