Queensland Election Wrap Up

While votes will continue to be counted in coming days following the Queensland election and a number of seats remain on a knife edge, what is clear is that both Young LNP members and EDO participants right across Queensland have helped to make a critical difference in many key seats.

This EDO wasn’t only the biggest that our Movement has run, it was also logistically more complex, taking almost 20 Young Liberals from around Australia into marginal seats right across Queensland – from the Gold Coast right through to Townsville.  As a direct result of the EDO programme, we injected an additional 1140 hours into on the ground campaigning – that’s literally hundreds of interactions with voters that simply would not have happened without the support of the programme.

This comes on top of the hundreds of Young LNP members who have been working tirelessly for local candidates on the ground for months and years from small letterbox drops, doorknocking and phone canvassing through to policy development and even running as candidates.

With the many lessons learned from this campaign, it is important that we as a Movement learn and grow ahead of the critical Bennelong byelection and the Tasmanian and South Australian State Elections.

We want to pay a particular tribute to Young LNP President Mitchell Collier who has done a tremendous job during the campaign along with his Executive and, in particular, Young LNP Campaign Director Anna O’Neill.

We thank and salute all those Young LNP members and Young Liberals from around Australia who helped during the campaign, be it on the ground or by phone-canvassing from interstate as well as our many generous donors who so generously support the work of our Movement.
